SILENTFALLOUT 6th Screening day of Silent Fallout in Manhattan, NY
The screening in Manhattan, NY was, so to speak, the highlight of the first half of the tour. Thanks to the organizer, Shoko Akiyama, Yuka Azuma, Hiromi Niwa, Tony Sahara, and the people in NY, more than 100 people gathered for the screening, compared to the 60 seats available
About half of the audience was Japanese
, and NHK was there to cover the screening. However, the the NHK program was only available in Japan. If anyone saw it, please let us know…

NYマンハッタンでの上映会は、いわばツアー前半のハイライト。主催者の秋山祥子さん、東ゆかさん、ニワヒロミさん、トニーサハラさん、そしてNYの方々のおかげで、定員60席に対して100人以上の観客が集まった。そのうち約半数は日本人でNHKも取材に来ていた。しかし、この番組は日本でしか見られないとのこと。もしご覧になった方がいたら、教えてください上映後、こんなにたくさんのメッセージをいただきました感謝！

Nukeのeffectは分かったのですが、Root Causeが全く出てこないのが残念です。これだけだと、だれが、こんなひどい物を命令してやらせているのかまで、つっこんで欲しかったです。
Both of my parents were born just one year after the war and neither family member was exposed to radiation (at least for Japanese government).
My father died in his 30s. After watching this film, I’ve an idea that the food my parents ate when they were very young might have affected them.
長崎で生まれました。
両親とも戦後次の年に生まれていてどちらの家族も被ばく者ではありませんでした（少なくとも日本政府的には）。父は30代で亡くなりました。今回のフィルムで両親が小さいころに食べた物などによって影響を受けたのでは頭によぎりました。

The film made me confirm that I myself was exposed to radiation. I was once again convinced that human species and nuclear weapons can never coexist.
This is an excellent investigative film.
We’ve hold “Anti-Nuclear Powe Exhibition” in New York every March since 311, which counts 14 times now. We have now 25 artists mainly from Japan, but also from Korean and US, keeping on warning people of the threat of nuclear power.

I also thank you to the coverage of Mothers against the Bomb. The US Nuclear Abolition Movement began here and has been inherited by an organization called SANE & FREEZE.
JFK signed the Partial Nuclear Test Treaty with Khrushchev of the Soviet Union by sending a private ambassador to continue the dialogue. It’s Norman Cousins. He was the editor of the Saturday Review and he made an effort of bringing the Atomic Bomb Maiden to America. This story appeared in the book of JFK and Unspeakable.

Mothers against the Bomb の取材ありがとうございます。アメリカの核兵器廃絶運動はここから始まりSANE & FREEZE という団体に受け継がれています。JFKが部分的核実験条約をソ連のフルシチョフと結んだのはprivateの大使を送って対話をつづけました。それはNorman Cousins 。アメリカに原爆乙女を呼ぶのに尽力したSaturday Reviewの編集者でした。この話はJFK and Unspeakable という本にあります。
You mentioned that “America may have become an uninhabitable place too,” but even if Tokyo is already uninhabitable, in reality, people will still be living in their homes, drinking the water provided, being exposed to invisible radiation, getting sick and only hospitals and pharmaceutical companies make money.
So, even if America was more contaminated, I think people will still be living there and getting sick from invisible radiation.
Even in the United States, activists working on the issue of radiation are getting older and tired from fighting for many years, but they said all they can do is continue to persevere for decades to come.
I was impressed by your attitude of wanting to tell Americans “as a human being” rather than “I have no right to tell Americans because I am a Japanese”(because of the Fukushima issue and so on). This is a global issue. Let’s all work together to change it, regardless of where we live or where we are from.
「アメリカも住めない場所になっていたかもしれない」というお話がありましたが東京は既に住めるレベルでない！という事実があっても結局は実際は人々は元の家に住み供給される水を飲み目に見えない放射能を浴び続け人々は病気になり病院と製薬会社ばかりが儲かる状況なのでもしもアメリカがもっと汚染されていても結局はそこに住み続け見えない放射能で病気になる、というパターンだと思います。
放射能の問題はアメリカでもアクティビストの人々はお年寄りになり、長年のファイトにお疲れになっていますが今後も引き続き何十年も根気良く続けていく事しかできないと伺っていますので、「日本人だから アメリカ人に言う資格はない」（福島のことなどあるので）というのではなく「一人の人間として」アメリカ人に伝えたいという姿勢に感銘を受けました。世界中の問題です。どこに住んでいる、出身地などこだわらずにみんなで変えましょう。

The screening in New York and Manhattan was very impressive.
It was full and there were standing room only.
The host gave a mini concert before the screening.
After that, the screening started at 14:00.
The atmosphere was quite heated, and people kept asking questions after the screening.
NHK TV interviewed me, and I was grateful.
I haven’t received any requests from other Japanese media ・・・ I don’t feel that they are interested.
At the end of the talk time, there was no rebuttal to what I said, and people applauded each time I spoke.
I was happy, but I also have mixed feelings.
How much of a sense of ownership do you have?
Everyone is an A-bomb survivor.
What are you protecting in exchange for the lives of your family? The question is,.
how serious is this?
I feel the difficulty of having people take it seriously.
We received various suggestions.
A researcher from the United States brought a chair and gave us a place to discuss.

最後のトークタイムでは、僕が話すことに反論が全くなく、話すたびに拍手をしてくださいました。
うれしかったけれど、複雑な心境でもあります。
どこまで当事者意識を持つことができているのか？
みんなが被爆者であるということ。
家族の命と引き換えに、何を守っているのか？という疑問。
それがどれほど深刻なことなのか、
重みを持って受け取ってもらうことの難しさを感じています。
いろんな提案もいただきました。
アメリカの研究者の方から、椅子持ってきていただいて、議論の場をいただきました。
