Documentary film director and television director

Born 1960 in Ehime Prefecture, Japan.

Started artistic video production in the 1990s. Invited to screening at Berlin Video Fest, Vancouver International Film Festival, British Short Film Festival, etc. In 2000, he switched to the world of television and produced programs focusing on documentaries. In 2004, he began reporting on radiation exposure caused by a nuclear test at a Pacific tuna fishing ground. Since then, he has produced a program on this theme every year. In 2012, the movie “X Years After Radiation” was released in theaters nationwide, and in 2015, the movie “X Years After Radiation 2” was released in theaters. The movie has been screened at more than 300 locations in Japan and overseas. In 2016, NNN Document ’16 “Stigma” (NTV/Narrative Kinrin) was broadcast nationwide on the same theme. In 2017, the film began screening in the United States (Central to Boston and New York). In 2021, NNN Document ’20 received the 71 Arts Award from the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology for its “Christmas Song” and previous activities. In 2022, he produced his third film, “SILENT FALLOUT,” which depicts the nuclear damage in the United States. On March 31, 2023, the Japanese version of the film “SILENT FALLOUT” was completed. In October, the English version of the film “SILENT FALLOUT” was released at the Hampton International Film Festival. It was evaluated at 16 overseas film festivals, including the St. Louis International Film Festival. It continues to screen films mainly in the United States.

ドキュメンタリー映画監督、テレビディレクター

1960年　日本愛媛県生まれ。

1990年代、アーティスティックな映像制作を開始。ベルリンビデオフェスト、バンクーバー国際映画祭、イギリス短編映画祭などで招待上映される。2000年、テレビの世界に転じ、ドキュメンタリーを中心とした番組制作を行う。2004年、太平洋マグロ漁場で行われた核実験による被ばく事件の取材を開始。以来、毎年、同テーマで番組制作を行う。2012年、映画「放射線を浴びたX年後」を全国劇場公開、2015年には映画「放射線を浴びたX年後2」を劇場公開。上映は国内外300カ所以上に及ぶ。2016年　同テーマでNNNドキュメント‘16「汚名」（日本テレビ・語り 樹木希林）を全国放送。2017年から　アメリカ(ボストン、ニューヨークを中心)での上映活動を開始。2021年NNNドキュメント’20「クリスマスソング」とそれまでの活動が評価され、　第71回芸術選奨　文部科学大臣賞を受賞。2022年には3作目となるアメリカの核被害を描いた映画「SILENT FALLOUT」を製作。2023年3月31日、日本語版 映画「サイレント フォールアウト」が完成。10月、英語版 映画「サイレント フォールアウト」をハンプトン国際映画祭で公開。セントルイス国際映画祭など、16の海外映画祭で評価。アメリカを中心とした上映活動を続けている。

In 2004, he received the Grand Prix of the Regional Jidai Image Festival and the Ishibashi-Tanzan-Waseda Journalism Award, and since 2006, he received the Excellence Award of the Japan Federation of Private Broadcasters, the Incentive Award of the Association for Private Broadcasting Education, and the Incentive Award of the Regional Jidai Image Festival. In 2012, he received the Grand Prix of the Galaxy Award, the Grand Prix of the Japan Federation of Private Broadcasting, the Broadcast Culture Foundation Award, the Special Award of the Japan Press Club Award, the 86 Kinema Junpo Best Ten, the 30 Japan Film Reconstruction Incentive Award, and the Media Ambitious Award. In 2021, he received the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award for the 71 Arts.
His book is “X Years After Radiation” (Kodansha), which follows the damage caused by the Pacific nuclear test. In addition, this book has been adapted into a manga, as well as an English adaptation and a work by Wake.

​2004年、地方の時代映像祭グランプリ、石橋湛山早稲田ジャーナリズム大賞、2006年以降、日本民間放送連盟賞優秀賞、民間放送教育協会奨励賞、地方の時代映像祭奨励賞などを受賞。2012年ギャラクシー賞大賞、日本民間放送連盟賞最優秀賞、放送文化基金賞、日本記者クラブ賞特別賞、第86回キネマ旬報ベストテン、第30回日本映画復興奨励賞、メディア・アンビシャス大賞。2021年　第71回芸術選奨　文部科学大臣賞などを受賞。
著書には、太平洋核実験の被害を追いかけた『放射線を浴びたＸ年後』（講談社）がある。また、同書籍がマンガ化、及び、英語化　画・和気一作。
